English & social studies Teacher
Aloha! Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit about me! I am so excited to be teaching at Wheeler Middle School (WMS) this year! This is my 3rd year at WMS but my 9th year teaching. I used to teach high school English and social studies classes prior to transitioning to middle school.
I am originally from Hawai'i, born and raised in Kailua, Oahu until moving to Los Angeles, California at the age of 10. I lived in California until 2008 to finish all of my schooling, or so I thought. After returning home to continue my teaching career, I also completed a Masters in Education from the Educational Technology Department at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in May 2014.
Besides education, my other passions in life are being a wife, mother, artist, and an adventurer! I have a three year old son named Thatcher and a one year old daughter named Ka'imi. They are my little rays of sunshine and have filled my life with new purpose and unconditional love. As a family, we love to use our time together to venture into the beautiful landscapes that our islands provide from mauka (mountain) to makai (sea). With any other free time that I may have, I enjoy spending time with my extended family, immersing myself in photography and DIY crafts, playing soccer, and paddling six-man canoe.
The classroom theme for this year is Aloha. Aloha spirit is the foundation of Hawai'i's culture, and it is an attitude/spirit that I would love for all students to understand and embody in and outside of my class...
