quarter 2 bell schedule
Click THIS LINK to see the changes to the bell schedule for quarter 2. Students will be given a copy of their Quarter 2 class schedule on Tuesday in Homeroom.
Students will always meet in homeroom at the start of every day, then they will leave to electives in the morning for this quarter since we start with period 3. Wednesdays stay the same with a rotating schedule each week.
Quarter 2 Schedule is...
After school tutoring- tuesDays and Thursdays until 4
I have started offering tutoring after school for students that are struggling in my classes. Tutoring is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4pm. Students do not need to make an appointment, they can just show up and be ready to work. Please encourage your student to attend tutoring if they are struggling in my classes, have been absent and need to make up work, or need help with making corrections to their assessments.
If a student cannot come after school, the only other time I have to meet with them is during lunch. However, students must make an appointment to meet at lunch.
PLEASE...CHECK DAILY POSTS FOR CLASSWORK AND HOMEWORK ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Please click on Smith ELA- Quarter 1 and Smith Social Studies- Quarter 1 tabs on the menu bar to view daily posts of classwork and homework for my classes.
This is an extremely helpful tool to use to have a conversation with your student about the work they are completing each day in class and what is expected to be done for homework when needed.
Sign in to Infinite campus...
We attempted to sign in to Infinite Campus today during social studies; however, many students had issues logging in. I told students to continue to try to log in at home (see instructions posted below for assistance). I will also ask students to sign in during class the next time we have technology, which may be at the end of this week or sometime next week.
FYI- Parents, you must turn in the Census Verification report to receive an email with your Infinite access information. This handout was given to your student to take home last week; they should have returned this paper with your signature to their homeroom teacher. If you are still waiting for that access information, you can always access Infinite Campus using your student's username and password. :)

PLEASE review the following GRADING SCALE CHANGES to the class syllabus....
As decided by the English/social studies department (grades 6-8), teachers will use a 4-point grading scale, or one aligned to it, for grading purposes. Please review the grade scales that I have implemented in my classes; you will see how I aligned the Vocabulary Test grading scale to the 4-point department grading scale.

Operation Christmas child
Ms. Manley’s Class (E-14) will be collecting items to fill shoes boxes that will be sent all across the world to children in need. This will serve as a tangible way to bless others who will not be receiving any kind of Christmas gift without our help. If you would like to participate please bring empty shoeboxes, little gifts, school supplies, hygiene products like toothbrushes and bars of soap, personally made crafts, jewelry, and etc to room E-14. We will need all boxes and/or donated supplies by November 10th! If you would like to pack a box yourself please indicate whether you have prepared it for a girl or boy. For further information visit Ms. Manley in E-14.
